Norwegian Aura is a Prima Plus-class cruise ship being built for Norwegian Cruise Line by Fincantieri at Monfalcone, Italy. Scheduled to enter service in May 2027, she will become the longest and largest ship in the NCL fleet.
Fincantieri gives the ship an approximate gross tonnage of 170,000, a length of 344 metres, 1,976 cabins and capacity for approximately 3,880 guests. Norwegian Cruise Line's launch announcement states a double-occupancy capacity of 3,879. The vessel is approximately 10% larger than earlier Prima Plus ships Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
Construction reached a major milestone when Norwegian Aura floated out at Monfalcone on 16 April 2026. The event marked completion of the external hull and the start of the final outfitting and interior-finishing phase. She is the first Norwegian Cruise Line ship built at Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard.
The ship's signature attraction will be Ocean Heights, an open-air family activity complex extending across the upper decks. Plans include waterslides, an approximately 82-foot ropes course, a climbing wall, amusement-style games, mini golf and private cabanas overlooking the sea. Norwegian Aura will have six slides across the ship, including attractions within Ocean Heights and the children's aqua park.
Ocean Boulevard, NCL's wraparound outdoor promenade on Deck 8, will be approximately 11% larger than those aboard Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The pool deck is planned to be approximately 20% larger, while The Haven will contain 159 suites—about 30% more than on earlier Prima-class ships.
The two-deck Mandara Spa is planned as NCL's largest spa and thermal suite. Norwegian Cruise Line has also announced 22 food-and-beverage venues representing more than ten cuisines. Hull artwork by British artist Rosie Woods will use luminous, flowing forms intended to reflect the ship's name.
Norwegian Aura is scheduled to begin her first advertised voyage on 21 May 2027, sailing for seven nights from Trieste to Barcelona with calls at Valletta, Salerno and Civitavecchia. Following a transatlantic crossing, she is due to begin year-round Caribbean service from Miami in June 2027.
The ship remains under construction. Norwegian Cruise Line and Fincantieri had not published a confirmed IMO number, permanent flag, MMSI, call sign, beam, draught, maximum speed, crew complement or detailed ship-specific emissions equipment by 21 August 2026. Those fields are therefore intentionally left unconfirmed in the Deck7 Ship Index.
