Disney Adventure is a 208,108gt ocean cruise ship operated by Disney Cruise Line. Carrying approximately 6,700 guests and supported by about 2,500 crew members, it is the largest ship in the Disney fleet and the line's first vessel based in Asia.
The ship entered service from Singapore on 10 March 2026. Its arrival established Disney Cruise Line's first year-round homeport outside the United States and introduced the company's cruise product directly to the Southeast Asian market.
From Global Dream to Disney Adventure
The vessel began as Global Dream, the first of two very large Global-class ships ordered by Genting Hong Kong for Dream Cruises. Construction started at MV Werften in Germany, but the collapse of Genting Hong Kong and the insolvency of its shipbuilding subsidiary in 2022 left the partially completed vessel without its intended operator.
Disney Cruise Line acquired the unfinished ship in November 2022. The company retained the underlying hull and machinery platform while commissioning a substantial redesign of the accommodation, restaurants, entertainment areas and guest circulation to suit Disney's family-focused operating model.
The Meyer Group established Meyer Wismar to manage completion at the former MV Werften site in Wismar. This makes the builder history different from a conventional newbuild: MV Werften constructed the original Global-class hull and much of the technical platform, while Meyer Wismar completed and converted the vessel for Disney.
Disney announced the name Disney Adventure in 2023. The vessel floated out in April 2025, completed sea trials later that year and was handed over in December 2025. Although the ship was completed in 2025, its commercial entry into service came with its maiden passenger voyage from Singapore on 10 March 2026.
Size, decks and accommodation
Disney Adventure measures approximately 342 metres long and 46.4 metres across the beam. Its certified gross tonnage is 208,108, making it considerably larger than Disney's Wish-class ships.
Disney's official launch material gives an approximate maximum capacity of 6,700 guests and a crew complement of about 2,500. Current deck-plan references identify 1,954 staterooms following the Disney conversion. Accommodation ranges from inside and ocean-view rooms to verandah staterooms and concierge suites.
Many rooms use Disney Cruise Line features such as raised beds for luggage storage, pull-down berths and split bathrooms. Selected concierge accommodation includes larger suites, private outdoor space and access to dedicated facilities.
The public deck plan runs from Deck 1 to Deck 20 while omitting Deck 14, producing 19 physically numbered decks. Not every deck contains guest accommodation, but the upper levels hold many of the ship's largest recreation and entertainment spaces.
Seven themed areas
The onboard experience is organised around seven themed areas rather than a single traditional atrium-and-promenade layout. Disney Imagination Garden forms a central gathering space inspired by Disney storytelling and features a storybook castle artwork and the Garden Stage.
Town Square takes its visual cues from Disney royal stories, while San Fransokyo Street draws on the hybrid city seen in Big Hero 6. Disney Discovery Reef brings together aquatic stories, and Wayfinder Bay is an open-air area inspired by Moana.
Marvel Landing occupies part of the upper deck and contains high-energy attractions, including Ironcycle Test Run, described by Disney as its first roller coaster at sea. Toy Story Place provides family water-play and recreation themed to Pixar's Toy Story films.
Dining, entertainment and family facilities
The ship offers more than 20 dining and lounge venues, combining Disney's rotational dining concept with international and Asian-inspired food. Its principal dining rooms include Animator's Palate and Animator's Table, the Hollywood Spotlight Club and Navigator's Club. Casual options include Pixar Market Restaurant and Enchanted Summer Restaurant.
The Walt Disney Theatre hosts large-scale stage productions, including the original show Remember. The Garden Stage supports additional performances and character-led entertainment, while the ship also presents deck parties, Disney character encounters, first-run films and fireworks at sea.
Dedicated youth spaces serve children, tweens and teenagers, with experiences based on Disney, Pixar and Marvel properties. Adult areas include bars, lounges, speciality dining, shopping and spa facilities, allowing family and adult-only activities to operate alongside one another.
Robert Downey Jr. serves as the ship's godparent. He delivered the ceremonial blessing during the christening in Singapore on 4 March 2026, six days before the maiden voyage.
Singapore deployment
Disney Adventure operates from Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore under a homeporting commitment originally announced for at least five years. Its core programme consists of three- and four-night cruises designed to make the ship itself the principal destination.
Most initial voyages were cruises at sea without an intermediate port call. Disney has subsequently scheduled selected four-night itineraries to visit Langkawi, Malaysia, beginning on 31 December 2026, while retaining Singapore as both the departure and arrival port.
Machinery and environmental systems
The ship uses a diesel-electric power and propulsion arrangement built around six MAN 48/60CR engines and three ABB Azipod XO propulsion units. Established technical records place total installed engine output at approximately 96MW and maximum speed at about 23 knots.
During conversion, the machinery and fuel systems were adapted for methanol. Meyer Wismar describes the ship as methanol-powered and says it will be capable of climate-neutral operation when green methanol is available. Public reporting around the ship's entry into service indicated that renewable methanol supply in Singapore was not yet sufficient for routine operation and that lower-emission alternatives, including hydrotreated vegetable oil, could form part of its operating fuel mix.
The vessel is therefore recorded by Deck7 as methanol-capable rather than LNG-powered. The reviewed public material does not establish a dependable date for shore-power commissioning or a current exhaust-gas cleaning system specification, so those fields remain unconfirmed.
Identification
Disney Adventure retains the permanent IMO number 9808986 allocated during its original construction. Current AIS and vessel databases identify MMSI 311000934, call sign C6EM2 and Bahamas registration, with Nassau as the port of registry.
