Vigo, on Spain's Atlantic coast in Galicia, has one of the country's most conveniently located cruise ports. The cruise area is integrated directly into the city waterfront, with pedestrian access to Vigo's old town and principal shopping streets.
Where cruise ships dock in Vigo
The principal facility is Muelle de Trasatlánticos. Current Port Authority infrastructure data lists 552 metres of physical quay plus 150 metres of additional mooring line provided by three offshore mooring dolphins, with a published depth of 12 metres. Cruise promotional material rounds the effective berthing line to approximately 700 metres.
The Port Authority states that this extended frontage provides sufficient space for two very large cruise ships to berth simultaneously.
Alberto Durán Maritime Station
The historic Estación Marítima Alberto Durán stands at Muelle de Trasatlánticos and contains Vigo's principal cruise-terminal facilities. The terminal area supports embarkation, disembarkation and transit operations and is served by Vigo Cruise Terminal and Atlantic Vigo Cruise Terminal.
Muelle de Comercio
At the other end of Vigo's central cruise waterfront is Muelle de Comercio, home to the secondary cruise terminal known as El Tinglado del Puerto. The current Port Authority infrastructure table publishes approximately 250 metres plus 50 metres of additional mooring arrangement, with a depth of 9 metres.
This quay is particularly useful during multiple-ship days, although it remains a multipurpose facility and can handle conventional general cargo when cruise operations permit.
Shore power
Vigo is developing OPS shore-power infrastructure for cruise ships. In June 2026, the Port Authority confirmed that Ghenova had been awarded the design work for electrification of Muelle de Trasatlánticos. A July 2026 investment programme also earmarked funding for OPS systems serving cruise and container ships.
Because the system remains in development rather than confirmed routine cruise operation, Deck7 records shore power at Trasatlánticos as planned.
Walking into Vigo
Vigo's great advantage for cruise passengers is location. The cruise area forms part of a continuous pedestrian and landscaped waterfront immediately beside the city centre, giving direct access towards the old town and shopping districts.
The railway station is approximately 15 minutes away on foot and the Port Authority describes the airport as around 15 minutes by road. Popular excursions include Pontevedra, Baiona, Tui and Santiago de Compostela.
