Busan

Busan is South Korea's leading cruise gateway, with two principal international cruise berths at North Port and Yeong-do, including a 440-metre berth rated for ships up to 220,000 GT.

Dock

Busan is South Korea's largest port city and one of Northeast Asia's major cruise gateways. International cruise ships primarily use two facilities operated by the Busan Port Authority: the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal at North Port and the dedicated Busan Yeong-do Cruise Terminal.

At North Port, the International Passenger Terminal's MBF-1 cruise berth is officially listed at 360m long and 12m deep, with capacity for one 100,000-GT cruise ship. The terminal opened in 2015 and is particularly convenient for independent visitors because Busan Station is connected by pedestrian deck and is roughly 10–15 minutes away on foot.

Yeong-do provides the larger dedicated cruise facility. Busan Port Authority's current Korean terminal specification gives MBY-01 a length of approximately 440m, depth of 11–12m and capacity for one ship of up to 220,000 GT. Older English BPA material still carries earlier lower figures, so Deck7 uses the newer detailed specification and records the discrepancy rather than combining incompatible data.

The International Passenger Terminal contains many additional passenger berths, but these predominantly serve international car ferries and fast passenger vessels. Deck7 therefore counts only two genuine cruise berths rather than claiming every passenger berth as a BONUS BERTH.

Busan is a true turnaround and port-of-call destination with extensive transport connections, including KTX high-speed rail from Busan Station. The city's attractions include Jagalchi Market, Gamcheon Culture Village, Haeundae Beach, temples and a substantial urban waterfront.

Terminal information

Busan Port Authority identifies two principal facilities used by international cruise ships: the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal at North Port and the dedicated Busan Yeong-do Cruise Terminal. The International Passenger Terminal combines cruise and international ferry functions close to Busan Station, while Yeong-do is a dedicated large-cruise-ship facility farther south on Yeongdo Island.

Docking and tender information

At the International Passenger Terminal, berth MBF-1 is the designated cruise berth, published at 360m long, 12m deep and capable of handling one 100,000-GT cruise ship. At Yeong-do, Busan Port Authority's current Korean terminal specification gives MBY-01 a length of 440m, depth of 11–12m and berthing capacity of one 220,000-GT vessel. An older English BPA page still lists 360m/11m/80,000, so Deck7 uses the newer detailed Korean passenger-terminal specification and notes the discrepancy rather than silently mixing the figures.

Getting around

Busan Port International Passenger Terminal is connected by pedestrian deck to Busan Station, giving easy access to KTX high-speed rail and Metro Line 1. BPA guidance gives approximately 10–15 minutes on foot from Busan Station. Yeong-do can be reached by bus/taxi; BPA directions commonly route public-transport passengers via Nampo Station and onward taxi or local bus. Gimhae International Airport is connected to central Busan by light rail and metro/taxi.

Accessibility

Both facilities provide international passenger-processing and CIQ functions. The International Passenger Terminal is a modern five-storey passenger complex; Yeong-do includes CIQ facilities and waiting areas. Specific wheelchair and ship-boarding assistance should be arranged with the cruise line.
