Blue Star Line is an Australian company established by businessman Clive Palmer to develop Titanic II, a proposed modern interpretation of the RMS Titanic.
The company unveiled the project in 2012, the centenary year of Titanic's maiden voyage. Palmer subsequently revived the proposal in 2018 and again at the Sydney Opera House in March 2024.
Is Blue Star Line an operating cruise line?
Blue Star Line is best described as a proposed or pre-launch cruise line. It does not currently operate a passenger fleet, publish an active cruise schedule or sell tickets.
The company's official frequently asked questions page says tickets for Titanic II are not yet available. Blue Star Line says information about fares and the maiden voyage will be published if and when it is released.
The Titanic II project
Titanic II is intended to recreate many of the spaces and experiences associated with the original liner while incorporating modern propulsion, navigation and safety systems.
At the project's 2024 relaunch, Palmer said the vessel would cost between A$500 million and A$1 billion and proposed a maiden Southampton-to-New York crossing in June 2027. He said construction tenders would be issued during 2024, with building expected to begin in 2025.
As of August 2026, Blue Star Line had not publicly announced a selected shipyard, signed construction contract, steel-cutting ceremony, keel laying or confirmed delivery programme. The proposed June 2027 maiden voyage is consequently no longer achievable on the publicly available timetable.
Although Titanic II has not formally been cancelled, it should be treated as a proposed ship rather than a confirmed newbuild or vessel under construction.
Proposed route
Blue Star Line has said Titanic II would recreate the original ship's transatlantic journey, travelling from Southampton to New York via Cherbourg. Its plans have also referred to later voyages around the world, but no bookable itineraries have been published.
Ownership and identity
Blue Star Line Pty Ltd is associated with Clive Palmer and the Titanic II project. It should not be confused with the historic British Blue Star Line, a separate passenger and cargo shipping business founded in 1911 and later absorbed into P&O Nedlloyd.
