Silversea has begun its 2026/27 Antarctica season, with the first departures of Silver Endeavour from King George Island and Silver Wind from Puerto Williams, Chile.
The new season will also introduce guests to The Cormorant at 55 South, Silversea's first hotel and a new land-based component of its Antarctica Fly Cruise programme. Passengers travelling before the property's official opening will receive an early preview.
Three ships and 40 Antarctica voyages
Silversea said Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind and Silver Cloud will operate 40 voyages through March 2027. Itineraries range from six to 21 nights and include voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
Of the 40 departures, 29 form part of the line's Antarctica Fly Cruise programme. Fourteen round-trip sailings aboard Silver Endeavour include flights over the Drake Passage in both directions, while 15 one-way itineraries combine a flight in one direction with a Drake Passage crossing by ship in the other.
A further 11 voyages will cross the Drake Passage by sea in both directions, sailing from Puerto Williams.
Silversea's first hotel
The Cormorant at 55 South is located in Puerto Williams on Chile's Navarino Island and will become part of every Silversea Antarctica Fly Cruise itinerary during its inaugural season.
Silversea will formally open the hotel on 5 November 2026. Guests travelling on earlier departures will be among the first to preview the property.
The hotel gives Silversea greater control over the journey between Santiago and Antarctica. Packages include Silversea-branded charter flights between Santiago and Puerto Williams, with the cruise line describing the service as the only direct air connection between the Chilean capital and Puerto Williams.
Expedition programme begins before embarkation
Silversea expedition specialists will be based at the hotel on a rotating basis. Available activities are set to include kayaking on the Beagle Channel, guided hikes on Navarino Island with naturalists and birding specialists, and horseback excursions led by a local Patagonian guide.
The property's main restaurant, Latitude 55, will offer family-style dining inspired by Patagonian flavours. Bar Sur will serve Chilean wines and cocktails using local ingredients.
Why the hotel matters
Antarctica cruises require complex arrangements involving domestic transfers, charter flights and tight weather-dependent connections. By operating its own accommodation in Puerto Williams, Silversea is bringing another part of that journey under the cruise line's direct control.
The development also marks a notable expansion beyond ships for the Royal Caribbean Group-owned luxury brand. Rather than operating as a standalone resort, The Cormorant at 55 South is designed as a gateway for guests travelling to and from Silversea's expedition voyages.
Silversea president Bert Hernandez said the hotel would create a more seamless journey to Antarctica while giving passengers greater choice in how they reach the continent.
Highlights of the 2026/27 season
The programme includes an 18-night Silver Wind voyage departing Puerto Williams on 7 November, visiting the Falkland Islands and South Georgia before reaching the Antarctic Peninsula.
Silver Cloud will operate four 15-night voyages combining South Georgia, Elephant Island and the Peninsula. The ship will also sail a 12-night departure on 9 December that is scheduled to travel south of the Antarctic Circle.
The season's longest voyage is a 21-night Silver Endeavour sailing departing on 4 March 2027. It will travel from Puerto Williams to Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands before visiting Puerto Madryn and ending in Buenos Aires.
