Marella Cruises has confirmed its headline acts for the 2027 edition of Electric Sunsets '80s vs 90s', its adults-only themed cruise, with 1980s pop star Tiffany, Claire Richards of Steps, and Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp all set to perform on board.
Who's performing
Tiffany, best known in the UK for her number one single "I Think We're Alone Now" and for becoming the youngest female artist to top the Billboard charts with her debut album, headlines the 80s side of the lineup. She'll be joined by Claire Richards, one-fifth of Steps, one of the UK's most successful pop groups, with guests promised singalongs to hits including "Tragedy," "Stomp," "Better The Devil You Know" and "One For Sorrow."
Martin Kemp adds a further 80s presence with a live DJ set drawing on Spandau Ballet classics such as "True" and "Gold." The lineup is rounded out by DJ Sash!, a returning name from previous years of the themed sailing.
Tiffany said she was excited to join the 2027 sailing, adding that the 1980s marked a special period in music history and that she was looking forward to performing some of her biggest hits for guests as the ship sails around the Mediterranean.
The sailing itself
Now in its sixth year, Electric Sunsets '80s vs 90s' is a three-night, adults-only themed cruise aboard Marella Discovery, running from Wednesday 28 April to Saturday 1 May 2027. The itinerary departs from Palma, calling at Valencia and Ibiza, before returning to Palma to finish the sailing.
Chris Hackney, CEO of Marella Cruises, said the line was delighted to welcome this line-up on board, noting that the themed cruise has become a firm favourite among Marella's customers and that market research and guest feedback consistently point to strong nostalgia for both the 80s and 90s eras, alongside genuine enthusiasm among guests for the chance to see well-known performers on board.
Part of Marella's wider all-inclusive offer
As with the rest of its fleet, Marella includes flights, transfers, tips and service charges as standard on the Electric Sunsets sailing, in keeping with the all-inclusive model the line has built its reputation on. Marella Cruises is the third-largest cruise line in the UK, operating five ships — Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer, Marella Explorer 2 and Marella Voyager — and has picked up Good Housekeeping Reader Recommended accolades for onboard service every year since 2019.
The announcement comes as Marella continues to lean into its themed and nostalgia-driven sailings as a distinct part of its programming, alongside the brand's 30th-anniversary celebrations and record booking levels reported earlier this year.
